About Paro Tsechu : 11 Days Tour

Paro Tshechu (festival) is one of the biggest religious celebrations of the Bhutan year. It is a major attraction in Paro Dzongkhag. The Tshechu attracts a large crowd from all over Bhutan and it’s very popular among the world wide tourists participating to witness the Tshechu.

The Paro Thongdroel is a large appliqué painting displayed to the public during the annual Paro festival. Thongdroel,which means ‘liberation on sight,’ is revealed in order to confer blessings on those assembled

Trip Overview

Day 1: ARRIVE AT PARO

Arrive at Paro Airport. Visit the National Museum and Rinpung Dzong in the afternoon . Liesure time in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel in Paro.

Day 2: PARO

Hike up to the famous Tiger’s Nest in the morning and after lunch visit other popular tourist attractions. Overnight stay at hotel in Paro

Day 3 : PARO TSECHU (1st Day) (inside the dzong)

Whole day witnessing the Paro Tsechu .Have first-hand experience of the festival. Mingle and get acquainted with the Bhutanese crowd to watch the following dances.

  • Dance of the Lord of Death and his Consort (Shinje Yab Yum).
  • Dance of the Lords of the Cremation Grounds (Durdag).
  • The Black Hat Dance (Shanag).
  • Dance of the eight kinds of Spirits (Degye).
  • Dance of the Drums from Dramitse (Dramitse Ngacham).
  • Religious Song (Chhoeshay).

Day 4: PARO TSECHU (2nd Day) (outside the dzong)

Whole day witnessing the Paro Tsechu .Have first-hand experience of the festival. Mingle and get acquainted with the Bhutanese crowd to watch the following dances.

  • Dance of the Lord of Death and his Consort (Shinje Yab Yum).
  • Dance of the Black Hats with Drums (Shana Nga Cham).
  • Dance of the three kinds of Ging with Sticks (Gingsum).
  • Dance of the three kinds of Ging with Drums (Driging).
  • Dance of the Stag and the Hounds (Shawa Sachhi) – 1st part.
  • Dance of the Lords of the Cremation Grounds (Durdag).

Day 5 : PARO TSECHU (3rd Day)

Whole day witnessing the Paro Tsechu . Have first-hand experience of the festival. Mingle and get acquainted with the Bhutanese crowd to watch the following dances:

  • Dance of the Lords of the Cremation Grounds (Durdag).
  • Dance of the Terrifying Deities (Tungam).
  • Dance of the Heroes with six kinds of Ornaments (Guan Drug Pawo).
  • Dance of the Noblemen and Ladies (Pholeg Moleg).
  • Dance of the Stag and the Hounds (Shawa Shachhi- Lencham) – 2nd part.

Day 6 : PARO TSECHU (4th Day)

Whole day witnessing the Paro Tsechu . Have first-hand experience of the festival. Mingle and get acquainted with the Bhutanese crowd to watch the following dances:

  • Dance of the Lord of Death and his Consort (Shinje Yab Yum).
  • Dance of the four Stags (Sha Tsam)
  • Dance of the Judgement of the Dead (Raksha Mangcham)
  • Dance of the Drums from Dramitse (Dramitse Nga Cham)

Day 7: PARO TSECHU (5th Day) – Thimphu (55 Km , 2 Hours)

The Great Paro Thongdrol is unfurled early in the morning and a Shugdrel ceremony performed.

  • Dance of the Heroes (Pacham).
  • Dance of the Ging and Tsholing.
  • Dance of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rimpoche (Guru Tshen Gye).
  • Dance of the Sixteen Fairies (Rigma Chudrug).
  • Religious Song (Chhoeshay)
  • Drive to Thimphu and overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu.

Day 8: THIMPHU

Whole day sightseeing in Thimphu visiting popular tourist attractions. Overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu.

Day 9: THIMPHU – PUNAKHA(70 Km, 3 Hours)

A hike to Tango Monastery should give you a good start in the morning. After lunch in a restaurant in Thimphu drive to Punakha via Dochula , one of the highest passes where in a clear weather you will see the eastern Himalayan ranges. Explore the town in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel in Punakha.

Day 10: PUNAKHA – PARO (143 Km, 5 Hrs)

Visit the most beautiful Dzong (fortress) of Bhutan, the Punakha Dzong and the temple of the Divine Madman, Chhimi Lhakhang.After lunch in a restaurant drive to Paro. Overnight stay at hotel in Paro.

Day 11: PARO DEPART

After breakfast, you will drive to Paro airport for departure.
